According to Petersburg, VA Chancery Records in Badger vs Newman, her name is clearly Elvira C. Newman, wife of Joseph Badger. Her written name was mistakenly interpreted to be Alvina in other records. This was where they were suing for 1/3 of her mother's (Lucy Newman)estate, which was 9 slaves. It also mentions her sister's Phoebe and Elizabeth.
