Thanks for your advice re Edward/Elizabeth marriage.

I will look out for your John. Do you have any later sightings of him e.g.directories/children/census/death/MI?

Did he stay in Newcastle? Lots of easy to read MIs on gravestones placed at back of church.

Elsewhere in that area a lot of graveyards were cleared by Stoke Council under "Project Arboris." Fortunately MI transcripts were made (not always accurate) and lodged at Hanley library and SoG.

Have you tried BMSGH birth and burial indexes? They are supposedly complete for Staffs.
