George Smyth Bagnall was born in Dublin, IE. St. Catherines Parish in 1808, he married a Mary Tolerton in 1827. For a while he was a fisherman in the Bay of Dublin but in about 1835 decided to find his fortune elsewhere. He landed in Frampton, Canada and there was a trader up and down the ST. Lawrence River, until one time a ship wreck and snow storm ended this vocation. He went back to Frampton and became a farmer and raised his family there. I am trying to trace his Father in Dublin, all we know that his name was John I. and he owned some realestate on Lower George St. in Dublin., the ownership of the land finally went to the daughter Rebecca Bagnall who was a postmaster in the area, she died in about 1891. The descendats of the Bagnall line finally came to America and spent the rest of their lives in Jacksonport, Door County, Wi. The original George Bagnall b. 1808 would be a great great Grandfather to my husband Max O. Andrae, whose Mother was from the Bagnall line.. For some reason we tend to believe that the Father of John I. b.? might have been a Robert Bagnall who seemed to be in the land rental business back in Dublin. Thank you very much.
