Hi Irene, I can cofirm John William Bagnall was the illegitimate son of Sarah Bagnall daughter of John and Martha, and that she was the sister of my grear/great grandad John Bagnall. He had a son after marrying Ann Eachus named Samuel Eachus Bagnall(my grandad) born Bollington, Macclesfield 1878, who married Emma Marchant 1899 in Macclesfield and then moved shortly afterwards to Eccles where my father Samuel Phillip Bagnall was born in 1908.
Incidently I`ve been chatting to an old couple who live about 20 doors away from me over the last twenty years. I was around at their`s last week and was talking about computers. She had just bought one and asked me what was one of the first things I did on mine. I replied my family tree and that it had solved the mystery of why my grandad was named Samuel Eachus Bagnall. She immediately said Eachus and that it was her mothers maiden name. She has done some research and it turns out that my John Bagnall who married Ann Eachus in 1878 was the sister of her great grandad. How`s that for a small world.
Good luck in your search and let me know how you go on...Regards Peter
