James Truman Bailey, 94, Pennington Gap, VA
PENNINGTON GAP, VA. - James Truman Bailey of Pennington Gap, VA, was born
in Sigma, Rt. 1, Keokee, on Saturday (July 22, 1911) and departed this life
on Saturday (Sept. 10, 2005) at his home at the age of 94 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Stella; parents, Tilman and Susie
Bailey; six sisters, Mallie Kelly, Myrtle Robbins, Eula Sorah, Dessie,
Hicks, Polly Leonard and Lorie Bailey; also two brothers, John and Taft
Bailey.
Truman was a lifelong resident of Lee County, a retired coal miner and
member of the UMWA for over 50 years, and a member of the Pensioners Local
#8761 in St. Charles.
He was also a member and past deacon of the Admant Baptist Church at Stone
Creek.
Surviving are one son, J.R. Bailey and wife Irene of Cincinnati, Ohio; many
nieces and nephews; and special friend, Gray Harber.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Province Funeral Home in
Pennington Gap, VA.
Services will be held at 8 p.m. today in the sanctuary of the funeral home
with Dr. Kenneth Ellis and Rev. Paul Davis Jr. officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lee Memorial Gardens
in Woodway, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at
10:30 a.m. to go to the cemetery.
