Proving John Baize (b.1781) and Abednego Baze (b.ca1783) are brothers
Is there a direct male descendant of John Baize (b.1781) who would like to participate in the Baize/Baze Y-DNA project? It would allow us to determine whether or not John Baize and Abednego Baze (b.ca1783) are brothers. We already have the results for a direct male descendant of Abednego on file (he's actually a "Baize" - see below), and it would only require a 12-marker test ($99) to obtain a positive match, since if John and Abednego are indeed brothers, their two descendants should be an exact match because of the relatively small number of generations we are dealing with (I asked a geneticist about this point to be certain).
If a match is made, it would allow the Abednego Baze and John Baize families to be linked.John would gain not only Abednego as a known brother, but Catherine and Rebecca Baize/Baise as sisters as well, since they are proven sisters of Abednego.John's mother would also be proven to be Hannah (Baise/Baize) Walker, the mother of Abednego, Catherine and Rebecca, as is indicated in the Adair Co., KY marriage records for all three children.
As a matter of curiosity, it would also partially clarify the story of John's parents having been killed by indians and then taken in by Matthias and Diademia Shultz. If Abednego and John are determined to be brothers, then it seemingly could only be the case that John's (and Abednego's) father might have been killed, since Hannah, the mother, is clearly still alive until at least 1806 (as shown in the marriage records for her children). On the other hand, the marriage records also indicate that Hannah's husband must have died prior to 1805, since Hannah had remarried David Walker by that time, and so the possibility would not be ruled out that the father might have been killed by indians. It might also make the story more likely to be the case that Matthias and Diademia might have helped out in some way in the aftermath of the death (if true) short of actually adopting John, since his mother Hannah would have still been alive.
