In 1945, Ernest McGill of Sacramento, California received a letter from Mabel Baker, postmarked Roanoke AL, in which Mabel identifies herself as his sister.Ernest's death certificate gives his birthdate as 05/09/1877.If he is, indeed, a brother of Mabel Baker, he must be the Lucius Lida Baker listed as a daughter in the 1880 census.Ernest's daughter remembers that he was a twin, so I suspect the listing in the 1880 census should be Lucius, male, and Lida, female.Ernest named his first son Walter and his second son Lucius, which strengthens these assumptions. The family doesn't know when or why he changed his name.My daughter-in-law's grandfather is a son of Ernest, which is why I'm interested in this family.
Can anyone verify Lucius and Lida being twins, maybe through birth certificates?Does anyone have further information on this Baker family?
