Alexander Balcom c.1650 precedents

I have found that there seem to be three branches of Balcom families in the US; one who settled in the northeast, one who went to the ohio valley and later KS, and one who went to VA, then south. I have a bit of information on all three, however, I am stumped on when, and on what ship did they all arrive.

My precedent, Alexander Balcom born c.1630, appears to have immigrated to Rhode Island where he shows up in 1662 as a land owner, married to Jane Holbrook. I believe his father oculd also have been named Alexander as there are entries in the Sussex parish register for an infant born about 1600 of that name.

If anyone has a lead on Alexander's father/mother and immigration dates/ships/point of entry, I would be most interested to know. I have visited every website known to Balcom's/Bolkcom's/Balcombes, Bawlcomb's, deBaulcombes, and Baulcombes, but no one seems to have either shared or uncovered this particular information. I know there is a Sussex historical society but the email address I found was out of date.

I refuse to believe I have hit a dead-end. Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated. And of course I am most happy to share what I have.

Nancy Bolkcom Shaw
