Sorry Ihave not replied before but your message came after we had just left on holiday. Now your William! I don't know if you realise just how many Bale's there were, but they are and were numerouse. I'm afraid I can's pinpoint him, the nearest I can get is a William Bale baptised 8th October 1820 son of Salathiel Bale and Mary Jones at Abbotsham Devon. Bales were also at Alwington & Litleham. The only other connection I can find are the sons of Joseph Bale and Prudence Coutise in another tree compiled by a Mr. Norman Hicks where he states that his ancestor James Campell Bale had four elder brothers who all emmigrated to Ontario William,John,Thomas & Joseph and this James was baptised in 1815.
My husband's Gt.GT. Grandfather was Captain of the bargue Civility that took emmingrants to Canada and America several times a year many times to Quebec. There are a lot of links with Prince Edward island in this area i.e North Devon. Sometime ago Sir Basil Greenhill (ex director the National Maritime Museum) wrote a book "Westcontry Men in the Prince Edward Island" it is out of print now and hard to come by but useful if you can get hold of one.
WEll I hope this might be of some use to you, and if I can help in future please let me know.
