correction to above

Humphrey's name was given as BEALE on his marriage cert. His father's name on the cert is WILLIAM BEALE. However in 1841 and 1851 censuses he spells his name BALE. His children, from both marriages, all use the spelling BALE. However as he could not write and signed his name with an X on his marriage cert, he probably was not aware of the different spellings!

I have found John Bale's third child Jospeh born 1876 in Chard. Joseph's mother, and John's wife was anna Billing from Buckland.

Their children were:

John, b 1868
alice, b 1871
Joseph b 1876 in Chard
Walter b 1878 in guernsey
Bessie b 1880 in Guernsey
Lydia b around 1883 possibly in Chard
Samuel b 1885 in Galway, Ireland

The last 5 children were definately Annas but we were told that John had been married twice and had children from a first marriage so John and Alice may have a different mother.l

Any information greatly appreciated
