Thanks very much for all this information. It turns out that Jane Snook and John Schancke Abbott b.c. 1814 aren't the John S. Abbott I needed. I did find out that Jane Snook's father was Peter and he married Amy Bale. In case anyone is interested, John Schancke married first Charity Fisher and then Jane and then Sarah Stout, which is part of the reason I was confused.
It turned out that my John S. Abbott was born 1822 and married Sarah Stimax Summerman.
Thanks for going to all that trouble - I am sure that someone in the John Shancke Abbott family will use that as it seems there were quite a lot of them.
