I.Scott,

I have considerable info about James Bale and Sarah Havens. She was definately a daughter of Danial Havens and Mary Gustin. That line goes way back into English history for several centuries.
James' sister Susan Bale, married Andrew Havens, also a son of Daniel and Mary Havens. Andrew and Susan moved from Sussex Co., NJ ca. 1846-8. James visited them in 1848, bought a farm and took his family to Ohio (Orange Twp., Delaware County) in 1849. Sarah apparently died in 1845 before these events as she is not mentioned in the series of articles which James' son John Havens Bale wrote in 1909 about his first 60 YEARS IN OHIO which was published in the Delaware Semi-Weekly Gazette. The article clearly tracks the Bale linage to Henry Bales arrival in Delaware in 1752. I have transcribed 18 of the articles which I've found and am in the process of producing a short booklet for interested family members.

Please contact me directly and I'll pass on what info I have. I would be very interested in any information you may have concerning Daniel Havens' early life.

William F. Bale
