Hi Sharon, Until I read this message I always thought that the James and Elizabeth who had land on Cherokee Creek were Quakers. That James, wife Elizabeth, was born in Newberry, SC and descended down the Quaker line from Henry, Josiah and James. On page 31 in Three Centuries of Ballingers in America it says he moved to North Carolina and then to Culpeper where his wife's family lived. It says he married Elizabeth 6-1-1805 so he couldn't be the same who sold land in 1776.
Do you know the ancestry of your James? I thought I had this one put away but you made me go back and read the fine print. Bruce B
