Ballerstein Family Genealogy Forum
Amanda, I am sorry I don't have a clue. The short few years I have been researching on the internet and the World Family Tree, I have not found any thing on my grandfather. I do know it was not unusal for one person or family to immigrate to the U.S. and write home telling family members how it was and to come on over themselves. I do have a copy of the ship SAALE passenger list and my granfathers destination was Wellsville, N.Y. I have a copy of my Aunt Henrietta's birth certificate and she was born in Allen Town, Allen Center, New York. One of my cousins has been back there in N.Y. and found records of older siblings going to school in that area and many Ballerstein's buried there also. That area no doubt was basicaaly a German settlement.

Boy Ballerstein & Sophie Marie Keese; Ernst Ballerstein, spouse Minni, married Dannigkow, Sachsen, Preussen; Dorothea Catherine Ballerstein, spouse Johann Friedrich August Rudell; Charlotta Augustina Ballerstein, 6 Sep 1795, Jerusalem, Berlin Stadt, Brandenburg, Preussen, parents Johann Andreas Ballerstein & Charlotta Christiana Saengern.
The last time I checked there is about 50 Ballersteins listed in the white pages. So Ballersteins are not a numerous group here in the U.S.A. I don't know about Germany, but maybe some day. If either you or I find out any thing I would love to hear from you. My e-mail is 'firstname.lastname@example.org'.
