Hi Rebecca,

I have had a look at the information I hold about Banfields but have not come up with a match. Between 1837 and 1945 there were some 4,600 Banfields born and this does not include the Bamfields and Banfills etc. A little more information from your end might make it easier to locate their English ancestors.
Have you tried the Ellis Island site for their entry into the States ?
Again, your census information may provide a lot more details such as age and relationships back in the 1800's.
