I have not been able to make any definitive connections in the Banfield line prior to Thomas and Prudence whom were married in 1796 in Mason Co. Ky. What I have been able to do is gather information, which is documented, and surmise a possible connection. My hope is to offer this information to those of interest who may be able to fill in the blanks. This is what I do know. Thomas Banfield (married to Prudence) was born between 1765 and 1775. A Thomas Banfield was on a tax list in Moon Township PA. in 1791. This is north of Pittsburgh. A Thomas Banfield is listed as nominating certain persons to represent a portion of KY. Squire Boone is on this list as a person running for nomination. This is about 1784. A Thomas Banfield was granted 400 acres at a court in Jefferson Co. KY. in 1781. A Thomas Banfield is on a tax list in 1772/3 in Springhill Township Bedford Co. PA. This township encompassed an area in Southwestern PA. the size of about three of the current counties in that area. A Thomas Banfield witnessed land transfers between Squire and Sarah Boone to Daniel and Squire (Jr.) Boone in Rowan Co. N.C. in 1759. A Thomas Banfield married to Ruth Maudlin (Mandlin) bought and sold land during the 1760s near Philadelphia Pa. A Thomas Banfield married Ruth in 1750 in the Philadelphia area. A John Banfield mentions in his will a child named Mary Maudlin (Mandlin) (under the age of 18) and a son Thomas. John is living in Amity PA. near Philadelphia. George Boone witnessed the will and Benjamin Boone witnesses the inventory. From all this I have surmised that it is possible Thomas and Ruth went with the Boones to Rowan County. Furthermore this Thomas may have traveled with Squire Boone to KY. Because of the birth year of Thomas (married to Prudence) the Thomas married to Ruth may have been his father. The problem is I canít find any records to conclusively make this connection. I have tried to piggyback on the history of the Boones to help with this research but to no avail. Anyone up for a challenge.
Bryan
