I have a theory that many of the Banfields originated in Cornwall. Visit the Truro cathedral graveyard and see all the Banfields that mined the Tin in the area. My ancestors also left Cornwall to mine copper and other minerals in South Africa, others went to Canada, Australia and now I'm finding Banfields in South Wales. Mining is so often a link to the places they went to. Even Argentina which has so much mineral mining has a large city named Banfield after the railway builder who took the line from Buenos Aires to the City.
