I am a retired Baltimore Sun journalist working on a book about neighborhood transition in Baltimore between 1910 and 1975. Decades ago I knew the Banfields, who are both deceased. Now I realize that they may have been the first African-Americans to cross, in 1944, Fulton Avenue, which was the racial demarcation line for decades.
I would appreciate any information about the Banfields and guidance on sources.
