Michael Banicki ca. 1860 Poland > MN

Michael/Michal Banicki (Sr.) and wife Mary/Maria (Literski/a) Banicki/a came from Poland in about 1885. He was b. ca. 1860, she ca. 1865. Their children, all b. in Minnesota, were John, Frances, Peter, Lucy, Mary, Michael Jr., and Edward. I am 95% sure that my great-grandmother, Mary/Maria (Banicki/a) Kalka was a sister to Michael Banicki (Sr.), since the two families were close neighbors in St. Paul, MN (1920 census) and the ages match.

I am seeking the name of the town or village that the oldest of these immigrants were from. From what I have gathered, it must have been in the German section, and if my hypothesis about the relationship is correct, that town or village would have had families with the surnames Banicki, Literski, and Kalka.

I can't get to the Web very often; if any of the above rings a bell, please e-mail me directly at dick.crum@la.berlitz.com

Thanks!
