Hi Jerry, Mathurin's marriage contract was not found and that is why we do not know the name of his parents. He is listed as one of the soldiers at:
http://www.fillesduroi.org/src/soldiers.htm#B

I am inclined to believe that Vienne is where he joined the military and that LaPerle was his given military name. They have Bauslnier, Banli, Boneliesse, Lanthier as name variations for Mathurin that the list refers to as Mathieu and not Mathurin.

If you found more information about where he was recruited, perhaps it would have more details.

That is one of my very short lines. Mathurin was my 8th great grandfather and his daughter Anne ends the surname for me when she got married in 1709.

Good luck in your search. Janet
