My name is Jaime Barba Alcala. My mother and father, including their entire families, are from Tepatitlan. From what I have been able to gather,(mainly based from another posting), They were among the first founders and settlers of Valle de Guadalupe, whose lands were once part of Tepatitlán and Jalostotitlán. The Barba family used to be known as MUÑOZ DE LA BARBA. Their patriarch was a gentleman by the name of Francisco Muñoz de la Barba (b. 1594, son of Juan Muñoz de la Barba and Anna de Espíndola II)who married Catalina González Rubio (dau. of Francisco Gutiérrez Rubio and Ana González Florida) in 1619, in Jalostotitlán. As time went by, some became just Muñoz and other kept the Barba, but they are still the same family. I have more information about people currently in Tepa plus their families in the U.S.A. My family is extensive, and my uncles mostly married from other families in the city or region. Please contact me for more info or questions. I would love to talk more about it.
