Read on another post in 2001..."Two Barclay boys from England and Scotland who have a coat of arms in Scotland and also a Tartan plaid, landed in Virginia and became farmers. Through an argument they had problems, and one changed his name to the 'Barkley' spelling. The family were strong supporters of the Christian Church in VA and KY and strong supporters of Bethany College."

Stephen Barclay born 1757 had son named William Barclay born 1778 migrated from VA or PA to KY via OH.

I am of the Barkley spelling.
