Has anyone followed up on John C Barkley?

In the mid to late 1700s, Barkley families were throughout Virginia including Bath and Greenbrier Counties. In the 1800s some of the Barkleys married and then lived in Bath County, Kentucky then to Lawrence County, Indiana.

Some of those names include: Lazarus Thomas Barkley, Edward Barkley, Nathaniel Barkley, James Barkley, Elizabeth Barkley and Gabriel Barkley.

Spelling includes Barklay and Barkley. Change in spelling occurred between 1740 in Mathers, Scotland to 1773 in Greenbrier County, Virginia; according to records from the World Family Tree Vol. 8, Ed. 1; tree #2576
