Please respond ... In 2003 I received an email from someone connected to our Hargan lime (Michael Hargan ..son George) .. they had written that I might be interested in an old letter that stated Michael had died December 13, 1840 inm Hardin County, Ky and was to be buried in The Hargan Cemetery .... Evidently they had seen or been sent an article I wrote about my husband, Dr. Jack Hargan, buried In The Hargan Cemetery within Fort Knox, Ky, 2001 ~~
This is very very exciting news as I have searched for over 30 years for any anything that gave evidence of Michael (& Elizabeth's ) true burial site; one notation is in The Brown-Pusey records in Elizabethtown, Ky but it is only from two ladies who physically went out years ago, & tried to read the old stones ... they had listed that Michael was buried in Patterson Chappel ... I have many others that note he was buried with Elizabeth next to his son Benjamin in The Hargan Cemetery .... I would so much like to hear from anyone .... we all know how errors can be made .. Patterson does have a footstone that is engraved TMH .. many have thought this might have been a Michael ... but Phillip & Rebecca Lee had 2 sons buried in Patterson (early deaths)... one Thomas M.Hargan ... most communications I have had ... have concluded this is why the assumption of Michael's burial there next to one of his grandsons ... majority of communiques are he & Elizabeth are buried in The Hargan Cemetery (which he purchased land for that purpose..the only recorded data I have ever found of a legal record) ...
I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE HEARING FROM THE PERSON WHO WROTE AND TO HAVE A COPY OF THE LETTER THAT STATES mICHAEL'S DATE OR DEATH & THAT HE WAS TO BE BURIED IN tHE HARGAN CEMETERY ...
BOTH EMAILS ARE VALID: [email protected] & HARGANARTIS@AOL.
