Barlows of Dublin 1700s-1800s

I'm interested in Barlows of Dublin, the line down from Sir James Barlow, Lord Mayor of Dublin - William Barlow - John Barlow and James Barlow, a solicitor. Does anybody have information on what these families' business interests were? Obviously James was in the legal profession. But what about John, William, and Sir James. How did they earn their money and gain their place in society? And secondly, does anybody have any information on General Maurice Barlow, Colonel of the 14th Regiment of Foot. One battalion of that regiment came to New Zealand during the land wars. Did he come with that battalion? Thanks. Rod Smith, Wellington, New Zealand.
