I'm in the south of England (from Perth, WA) at the moment doing research on the Barnden family, and as yet have been unsuccessful in making a connection between John Barnden of Glynde and my own ancestor, Thomas Barnden of Telscombe (married 1775).I've seen the parish register entries for John and Grace and the births of their children and have them written down somwhere, but I'm afraid I didn't check out any further generations. There seem to have been many Barndens in all of Sussex in the 16th and 17th centuries, but they are more difficult to trace with accuracy in the next 2 centuries. And as they seem to have all been illiterate agricultural labourers, there is very little remaining of their lives in our historical records.Interesting that all the Barndens who emigrated to Australia and New Zealand were no doubt related somewhere along the line, but came at different times and to different places.
