Barnells in Knox Co. IL, 1850s - 1880s
I've been trying for some time to find information on my ancestor, Mary Barnell, who married Joseph Zimmerman. I finally found a marriage record putting them in Knox Co., IL in 1875. The documents stated that Mary was from Truro. Her parents' names look like William and "Lorica".
While searching the IL online marriage index recently I found references to some more Barnells married in Knox Co., IL. Specifically, a Delia Barnell who married Joseph E. Ensley in Aug. 1888, and a William Barnell who married Louisa Kimler (as best I can make out) on 12 Aug. 1858. I sent to the Knox Co. Clerk for the documents, hoping to find a tie to my Mary, William, & "Lorica". Now I have the marriage documents I sent for, & know that Delia Barnell who married J. Ensley was the daughter of William & Louisa (Kimler) Barnell. William's father's name was Aaron Barnell. There was a Ben Barnell who witnessed the marriage document for Joseph Ensley and Delia Barnell.
