On July 1, 1882, a motion was made for letters to be granted to J.G. Sutton and his wife, J.G. Dayton, H.H. Barnhill and his wife, M.E. Barnhill and W.J. Sutton to organize a new church. This was Kate’s chapel church, named for one of the founders, Mrs. Kate Sutton.
