Kathryn - You GO girl !! Everything you have here matches my research with only one exception... I have Cora A. Strother-(Owen's wife b. 15 Apr 1835) as Benjamin (b. 15 Nov 1861) Franklin Barnhill's mother. She died 8 March, 1900 in Alabama. Your great-grandparents (Benjamin Franklin and Mary Barnhill) had ten children. If you have a picture of John Jason "Jack" and Emmaline (Goodson) Barnhill, there are many who read these forum notes who would be interested in getting copies from you. It has been said your Emily was full-blood Cherokee, married to a chief and had 2 sons before she married John Jason. They lived on Pee Dee river and moved to Pike Co Al. in early 1840s. John and Emily would have been around 60 years old when family photographs became fashionable.
