Some things have been brought to my attention via an e-mail and I would like to make a few points clear.

1. I have yet to discover and validate the names of Susannah's parents. According to UN-SOURCED internet trees, William Barnhill and Nancy Packer MAY or MAY NOT be Susannah's parents. Also, William MAY or MAY NOT be Susannah's brother and Nancy MAY or MAY NOT be Susannah's sister-in-law.

2. I do not have evidentiary documents regarding the ancestral backgrounds of Thomas West and Susannah OTHER THAN the census records. The records list the family as free people of color on the 1830 and 1840 federal census records and M (Mulatto) on the 1850, 1860, and 1870 federal census records. I am aware that the term mulatto has had varying meanings throughout history. I am open to all of the possibilities that this term may have implied.

Thank you,
Ashley
