Oh, Cathy…. Actually I’m not planning to write a book. I probably get in too deep just answering questions to the best of my ability. However, please remember my motto, “I reserve the right to be wrong”. I have put all of my information on a CD and I plan to publish it through the genealogical extension of our local library. It will be available through the Inter-Library loan program. The name of the CD is, “Surname Barnhill”. Now, to answer a couple of questions… The closest match I have is Thomas W. Barnhill, (b. 1817), son ofWilliam P. Barnhill and Cynthia Ann Hodge. Thomas is found in Washington county, Texas at age 34 (1850 census) with (wife? Elizabeth b. 1831 in the Mexican Republic of Tejas). Pleasant Hodge Barnhill and his half-sister, Elizabeth are also found there with Jessie (female), J.D. (male) and M. D. (male). I am assuming these are all children of Thomas' brother, Daniel. Elizabeth's age here is four years older than Daniel's daughter, so this may be a source of concern. A great-grand-daughter of William Barnhill Sr. (Esther Armstrong) married Joseph O’Daniel in 1834. Esther was born in York County, South Carolina in 1816. Also, there are differing opinions regarding William Barnhill’s many residences. My theory is, there were too many William Barnhills to keep track of. (I have a picture of his tombstone in TEXAS). - Stan
