Elaine - Please forgive the intrusion.. I don't wish to come between you and Cathy, but Audley Barnhill was one of my very worst genealogical nightmares. I made him my "Special Project" back in 1990 when I first found him living in "Wyoming Territory" back in 1860. I may be one of the few people who can help you. You could be looking in the wrong neck of the woods. The only thing that I have for you are the names "Audley" and "Hiram", both, rather unusual in the Barnhill family. Here's your clue... Audley Hamilton Barnhill, born 23 December, 1804 in South Carolina died 25 April 1900 in Saunders County, Nebraska. His son, Hiram Walker Barnhill was born 1849 in Illinois, while the family was moving westward. Hiram Walker Barnhill had two sons, Audley (b. 1885 in Decatur County, Kansas) and Vernon, (b. 1888) same place). When these boys left home, they settled in Alameda County, California. Audley had two boys, Warren and Audley Vernon. Vernon, Audley's brother (b. 1888) married, but I never found children. Audley and brother Warren are living with their uncle Vernon in the 1930 Federal census of Santa Ana, Orange county, California - North Broadway household #126 Audley V. "Barney" Barnhill's construction company and marina was adjacent to No. 1 Work Street in Alameda, California. Barney, a WWII veteran, became a wealthy man by constructing tilt-up concrete factory buildings in Silicon Valley. My research reveals a "Lai N. Barnhill and "Marina" Barnhill are names associated with Audley and Marcella. Last known residence - Discovery Bay, California. I believe he was 96 years odl at the time I last researched his family. Hope this helps, especially if you could be an heir. - Stan
