Hi Chuck!

My name is Aline Meikle. My grandfather's name was Timothy Barron. (My grandmother spelled it Timothe--she was french). My grandfather's birth certificate identifies his parents as Walter Barron and Mary Clifford. The name for my grandfather was listed as Timothy (Barnes) Barron. My grandmother was born Diana Tremblay in Amqui Quebec. She never learned (nor wanted to learn) English. There is no doubt from my grandfather's accent he was Irish. He confirmed that to us as well. We always called him granpa Barnes. We all wondered why we all referred to him that way. Noone seemed to know how or why! His children were all baptized as Barron.

When I read your comment to the effect that 'some of the Barron's who went to Canada changed their names to Barnes...'. I have been completely unsuccessful in finding out any death infor for my great-grandfather Walter Barron. Perhaps I should be looking for Walter Barnes....

Thank you for the hint of a possible better avenue of research.

Aline
