Hi Denise,
Thought I'd drop you a line because it sounds familiar with some family history I've been looking into focusing around the Pub Rose & Thistle, Wellington St, Barnsley. The Landlord of the pub was called George Barstow born 1835 died 22/04/1903 at 111 Princess St, Barnsley. His first wife was called Mary born 1836 who died 09.01.1877 at 23 Wellington St. They had a son called Joeseph Barstow a tinner & brassier acording to the 1871 census.Their daughter Sarah born a nurse at 14yrs and Hannah a scholar both registered on the same census. Their younger brother Allan born 1868 died 15.09.1895 at Becket hospital. He was also classed as a scholar in the 1881 census His second wife was called Jane Woodiwiss born 1826 probiably from down south but dont know where. she died 09.03.1894 at the Rose & Thistle Inn she had two daughters called Clara & Fanny Woodiwiss. George & Jane had a son together called Tom born in 1874. I hope this info is of use to you & I would appriciate any information you may have on Joe & his family.
Regards
Jason Barstow
