Mark: My husband is a descendent of the Barthels in Indiana. His Grandmother Irene Margaret Barthel-B:1/15/1894 in Vincinnes, Knox Co., In, D:1975 in Terre Haunte, In. M: Luther Austin McDowell-b3/24/1894 Silverville, IN. D: 2/10/1950 Terre Haute, In.
Her Father was Charles Barthel - B:2/2/1862 in Indiana, died in 1930 and was burried 11/10/1930 in Terre Haute, In. He married: Anna Droste - B Dec., 1864, and died 1/11/1917 Terre Haute. Their Children Were Frank B4/29/1887, Irene 5/32/1892, Harry William Born 1890. Charles father was Charles Sr., Born 5/21/1830 in Alsence France-I have his France passport and naturalization papers.
Died 6/1907 and was burried 6/10/1907 in Vincinnes and is buried at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Vincinnes, In. He married in 1860 to Katherine Laugel who was born July, 184l in Indiana, she died January 27, 1922 in Terre Haute, Indiana. She is burried in an unmarked grave next to Charles. Their children were: Mary B1861, Charles 2/2/1862, Frank J.BJanuary 1866, Joseph BAbt. 1870 and Gerhard Edward (Ed) Born bet 1870-1876.
