Hello Roger, I am also looking for a Barthel family line from France. Valentine Barthel was born in Strasbourg in the Alsace province around 1790. He is said to have served in Napoleon's Army and was in charge of Napoleon's horses. His family immagrated to Ontario in 1833. Let me know if you see any connections. David
