Barthel relatives from Hermeskeil, Rheinland, Germany (Prussia)

I have been researching my Barthel family history on LDS websites. I've been able to go back as far as 1790 where I have run into a road block of sorts. My entire family tree was baptised, married, and burried at Saint Martin's Catholic Church..but in the late 18th century I need to locate my Great (x6) Granfather, Matthias, Mathias, or Matthaie Barthel. There are two men of that name, one born in 1779, the other in 1787, and they both have a father of the name Joannes and mother of Anna...but they are obviously two completely different people and I do not know which one I'm related to.

So far I have this thread starting with myself: Robert (Pittsburgh, Pa 1978), Robert (Pittsburgh 1944), John (Pittsburgh 1911), John (Pittsburgh 1868), Jacobus (Hermeskeil, Rheinland 1841/1842), Joannes (H,R 1809) and then one of the two Mat(t)hias (H,R 1787 or 1779).

All I'm looking for is someone who may have some of the same lineage and could help me figure which one I'm related to. Or just someone with some advice as to where I could go from here.

Any help would be much appretiatied, thank you so much...can't wait to hear from anybody.
