I don't think so. My Henrich Barthel was b. about 1664
in the commune of Eppstein, duchy of Darmstadt. Their story was told in the book "The Palatine Families of New York, 1710" by Henry Z. Jones, Jr. My particular branch went to Oxford, Chenango Co., NY, took the name Bartle, and multiplied profusely.
There are lots of people named Barthel in the Frankfurt telephone book.
