Hello, I have John Bartow Moore, born 1808 in either NC or VA. (Sources: children's death certs). John is my brick wall who disappeared in the Civil War.
He married Margaret Hodges @ 1849 in Screven Co, GA. They are in Pierce Co, GA in 1850 [farmer] and then in Savannah [sons all worked for railroad].
I am hoping for help from the Bartow line, esp as the name is not common. Best guess is that perhaps his mother was a Bartow, perhaps from the NC/VA border which were still shifting in 1808. Family was notorious for reusing names John & James. John Bartow Moore's other children were Calvin, Martha and William J.
Any Bartow assistance would be greatly appreciated!
