Francis S. Bartow was a colonel in the conferderate civil war.He was in charge of acouple of Georgia regiments.He died at Henry Family Hill.At the battle of Bull Run,Manassass, Va. Before this he was mayor of Savannah,GA.He married the daughter of Judge Berrian. He is a descendant of the Rev. John Bartow who came over (in 1702?) from England to Westchester co. N.Y.Who is decended from General Bertaut,a French protestant.Who fled from Brittany,France to England (in 1572?)because of religious persecution. Bartow county Georgia and Bartow,Florida were also named after Francis S. Bartow.
