Hi - I have (had) Bartow family in Oregon/California and I had heard of out at sea stories and actually saw and read the news clipping in my grandmother's (Betty Jane) scrap book. Her husband (my grandfather), George L. McAdams and her Father(step, although she considered him her daddy)who was a Bartow were out at sea with another man when a storm came in. They were fishermen/whalers and the boat capsized and my grandfather got the two men to safety to a Coast Guard vessel. It may be a coincidence, but this was a recorded/documented story and took place in Eureka, California.
