I should respond to your message-- I have some documentation regarding Jacob or Jacques. I received it from a Bashore here in Lancaster, whose grandfather, Isaiah Bashore researched and compiled it. He was affiliated with Elizabethtown College, so I feel confident that he had much information to access.
The Palatinate, on the border of France and Germany was the home of the Huegenots (spell?)mostly Lutheran and Reformed. The German and French influence was so great there, because there was fighting at that border over many, many years. You will find that the names are French and the language is German. Many Pennsylvania Dutch have names of French derivation, like Bashore.:-)

I am in the process of moving from a home that I have lived in for 21 years, so I have much paperwork to go through. I am sure I will find the documentation, that I have mentioned. I would be delighted to share it with you.

Happy hunting!
