Have you checked the full indexes, then, for the 1800 SC census? I have not, so I cannot say if there were _two_ (or more) Thomas BASKITT/BASKET/BASKETTs enumerated in South Carolina in 1800....
hence do not know if this could be the _same_ Thomas Baskett.
Have you reviewed the index for the full 1800 for all of SC to ensure there is more than one Thomas Baskett enumerated in 1800?
Is the Thomas Baskitt of Laurens Co 1790 _still_ in Laurens Co in 1800, in addition to the Thomas Basket who shows up in Newberry in 1800?
