Supposedly Everett was brothers with Lemon/Lamon (& even Lamont or Lemont?-can't read my dad's handwriting on this alternate spelling)and William Bass, who was last found on the Robeson 1880 census as follows: (2doors from an Andrew & Sinda Bass & family, & next to a Doctore & Farby Barnes w/ fam.)
William Bass 52 Farm Laborer
Rachol 40 Keeping House (presumably his "wife")
Saro f 21
Gocy f 17
Callie f 14
John W. m 13
Perty f 8
Lethy f 5
Nitty f 2
*Various spellings on these of course, like Perty has also been Pasty & Patsy
My grandfather apparently remembered hearing about someone in the family being bonded out or living with other relatives, and that he thught it was one, if not all three of the brothers. They have been shown living in different households at various times. One household they were living with was under John Bass, a brother to James. Their parents are usually listed as James Bass b.abt 1799 or 1800, & Edith Lee Johnson/Johnston, b. 1804 in Robeson. They were married in 1818 in Robeson, which is another reason we've wondered about the kids, since they weren't born until 1830ish. One of the households they appear under at different time is with John, possibly a brother of James'.
So: I'd love to find out anything definite on James' parents or siblings, or really anything about him at all as information on him is seriously lacking; the possiblity of other parents for Everett, William, and Lemon, and on William himself. Lemon died during the war, but William was released and we know nothing further about him after that 1880 census.
We'd also like to know of any other connections to the use of Addison as part of a family name. My grgrandfahter & grandfather both had that as their middle names & I think I've come across it on another Bass but with connections unknown.
We also have a lot of other information on Everett & his children' families. We even have a picture of his abandoned farmhouse that we found and his military records, and knowledge of where some of the surrounding families were buried as well as a few pictures of tombstones. If anyone is interested at all in exchanging info, feel free to email.
