In the book "Batchelder, Batcheller Genealogy" by Frederick Clifton Pierce, 1898, is the following:
page 185 - "Elbridge G., b. Nov 5, 1819 m. Harriet Hinkley." He was the 11th child of 13 born to William Batchelder.
Page 184:"William Batchelder (Peter, John, Stephen, Nathaniel, Nathaniel, Stephen, the immigrant), b. N. Yarmouth, ME, Jan, 1777; md in Monmouth ME, Dolly Gray, md. 2nd Mrs. Parma R. Pool, b. 1792; d. May 21, 1860.He was a carpenter; was a soldier in the war of 1812 and received a pension for his services.He d. June 1953; res. Lisbon, ME."
Page 251:"Elbridge G. Bathchelder (William, Peter, John, Stephen, Nathaniel, Nathaniel, Stephen) b. Liston ME, Nov 5, 1819; md. Feb 20, 1852 Harriet Hinkley. b. Dec 2 1825.He was a tinner.He d. Jan 31, 1867; res. Vassaloro, ME.
Children wer Hattie P., b. Feb 3, 1853, d. Sept. 20, 1881, unm in Para, South America.William, b. April 19, 1855; md. Olive L. Ross."
I did not see any other Hinkleys in the index.I saw a listing for a Joshua Moody; no James.Apparently Joshua was one of the executors for the will of Ann Batchelder in 1661.Since you are descended from James Moody, you must not need further Batchelder information.Possibly James had been apprenticed to Elbridge to learn his trade.
