Hi,
Ephriam Bates was my 5th great grandfather.
I am related to him through Elizabeth Bates Dennis from the community of Dennis Mills in St. Helena Parish, La. I have no knowledge of where a Bates cemetery is located but I do have the following information.
In St. Helena, Conveyence- B dated Oct 25, 1811, it is stated that Ephriam Bates bought land on both sides of Darling Creek next to the land of James Mc Nabb.
In the history of St. Helenea, Parish on the St. Heleana web page it states that Ephriam Bates built the 1st mill in St. Helena Parish.
It was located just below where liberty road
crosses darling creek. It states that Bates was an early store keeper and had a store near the mill.I am not sure which road was called Liberty Road. However A Darling
Creek is on the present maps of St. Helena.
This Darling Creek is located in the north WEST section of St. Helena. Could it be that the Bates Cemetery is in the north west section of the parish near where Ephriam Bates owned land, a mill and a store?I would appreciate to hear of any new information you may discover about the Ephriam Bates family.
Yours Truly,
S. Couvillion
