METHODIST BRYANTS: IRELAND>PA, MID 19TH CENTURY
I am interested in hearing from anyone with Protestant, primarily Methodist Bryant ancestors who emigrated from IRELAND to PENNSYLVANIA or to the middle Atlantic states in the 1840's and 1850's.From the ships' lists it seems that in that time period there were very few Bryants from Ireland; most came from England, and there were no Bryant households in Ireland's Primary Valuation between 1848 and 1864.The Surname Dictionary says "fairly rare:Dublin, Belfast & scattered."I'm trying to find an Irish county of origin for my g g grandfather, THOMAS BRYANT, who I think arrived in New York in 1848, is found in Philadelphia in 1850 and 1860 where he married a "Mary," last name unknown and had at least two children. He moved "to family" in Canada in the 1860's and then back to PA to ALLEGHENY COUNTY by the 1870 Census. He died in 1883 leaving only two daughters and a widow.I'm hoping for brothers, "sisters, cousins, aunts" or any family connection.Barbara in Sacramento, CA
