Brunswick County, Virginia Bates

I've recently discovered my Abner Bates who died in 1788 in Amelia County, Virginia was in Brunswick County prior to residing in Amelia.

In 1755 Abner sold his land in Brunswick County to a James Hudson, and bought James' land in Amelia. I do not have the description of the land in Brunswick County, though, and don't know which part of the county it was in. This land was later involved in a lawsuit in Amelia County, and I think it ended up as part of the estate of an Alexander Gordon.

I've seen reference to wills in Brunswick County for a George Bates, Richard Bates and Elizabeth Bates. Does anyone have further information on these people? My Abner was the son of Thomas Bates who died in Amelia County in 1775, and I assume he arrived in Amelia County with Abner.

Any info on Brunswick County Bates in the mid 1700s would be super!

Thanks!
