I still question how you can prove WHICH Bates (or other surname) a person would tie to. Where does the DNA come from to establish the line? What if it isn't' Bates after all??? The entire process seems a bit "out there" to me. There was no such thing as DNA 200 years ago.... So where does the original marker come from?
