Susie I have done considerable research on Daniel Bates b July 6 1756. The 1820 census for Pendleton dist S C shows a Daniel Bates. The 1820 census for Lincoln Co Ga also shows A Daniel Bates. Both The Ga and S C census show near idential information causing many people to think that both census represnt the same person. I disagree. The 1826 obituary for S C Daniel Bates says that he was a revolutionary Souldier. I am unable to find any proof that Daniel Bates b1756 was a revolutionary soldier.
The Daniel Bates of Lincoln Co Ga 1820 census died after 1820 but before November 1820 when his widow Nancy aplied for letters administration of her deceased husband. This Daniel Bates died approximately 5 years before the S C Daniel Bates.
